In May, Marie Stopes Tanzania (MST) hosted Ms. Helen Fytche, Head of Cooperation from the High Commission of Canada to Tanzania in a two-day visit to its outreach and PSS sites in the Southern Highlands. Accompanied by Marie Stopes’s Country Director, V.S. Chandrashekar, the Head of Cooperation attended the launch of MST’s Makambako Polyclinic which was officiated by Njombe Regional Commissioner Hon. Waziri Kindamba.
Following the polyclinic launch in Makambako, Ms. Helen had an opportunity to conduct a field visit to our Mbeya region Outreach team and met with both the Regional Health Management Team and the Mbarali District Health Management Team. During hervisit, she spoke to clients, service providers as well as demand generation teams. Commenting during the visit at Igurusi Health Centre, Ms. Fytche said: “I am impressed with the services offered. Marie Stopes is doing a very good job especially at this point where we know there is a huge need for services”. “I am proud that this Marie Stopes work supported by Global Affairs Canada touches lives of women and girls directly. I am very happy to have seen this myself and for sure I will share with my colleagues” she added.
Marie Stopes Tanzania acknowledges the support from Global Affairs Canada which enables the teams to reach marginalized communities in hard-to-reach areas via high quality, client-centred outreach and public health sector strengthening services. The team which accompanied the Head of Cooperation involved Mr. Richard Manirabona from Global Affairs Canada, Dr. Geofrey Sigalla – Director of Health Services from MST, as well as Mr. Emmanuel Mang’ana – Project Manager and Ms. Noelia Mbeyela – Zonal Coordinator both from MST.
